The Detroit-Superior Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio has a banner on the north side of the bridge that reads "Buy your liberty bonds now - the best protection for life and property - everyone must help". A liberty bond was a special kind of war bond sold in the United States to support the allied forces in World War I. This shows the bridge in May of 1917 before it opened to traffic on Thanksgiving day of the same year. This shows public support for the sale of liberty bonds by the city of Cleveland and the public service department.
