Germany and U-boats

The development and use of the Unterseeboot by the German military was seen as a looming threat and was used to prove the animosity of their foes. Events like the sinking of the Lusitania and the Arabic further caused outrage. This article, written shortly after the US entrance into the war on April 6, details the need for US response to this new threat which had emerged in the early 20th century. The U-Boat allowed the German navy to stealthily intercept and create a blockade in order to cut off supplies needed by the British. Use of the U- Boat can be
considered one of the primary causes of the entrance of the United States into World War I.
